I normally pay between £15 and £22 for myself and the dog including EHU.

I agree that you can get a B&B just as cheap, but you cannot cook your meals in a B&B.

Camping is not a cheap holiday when you take into account the cost of equipment and the relatively short life of modern tents, but it gives you the freedom to do what you like when you like.

Like DK i am a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club. The pitch fees per night do work out quite a bit cheaper for us single ladies as they charge per person (commercial sites usually charge per unit which includes two people) and no extra charge for the dogs. It may not be quite so beneficial for a couple although it does still work out cheaper than a commercial site. Take a look at the Camping and Caravanning club website and you can see all the information.

The site i use in Cornwall is privately owned and they do charge per unit including two adults plus a charge per dog per night. Because i am on my own they generally do not charge me for my second dog which helps a bit. I've been going to the site for years and like it there so don't mind paying a bit more as it's my main holiday.

We tend to take 2 grandchildren and the sites we use, have play areas but no entertainment, ( we make our own entertainment, loads of fun )usually, £20- £23 a night without EHU, about £26 with. We tend to use same sites which we like. Not cheap but its our choice. New one near Bamburgh, Northumberland I fancied, new huge play area, But gunna work out at £30 night for NON EHU, gotta be most expensive Ive seen. they charge £4.50 a night for a child over 10!! It hasn't even got a shop!
May give this one a miss, don't mind paying but don't like being ripped off

I have just booked a Park Resorts camp in Jaywick (Martello Beach) for 5 nights from 19th April - cost is £3.60pn, including EHU and use of all facilities such as swimming pool and evening entertainment

How do you find such a cheap place?! The ones i just look at have 2 prices. In season or out of season. You got a righr bargain.

Forget any brochure, just enter the date you want on the website booking page - prices will then appear

When members of the camping clubs say they are getting cheap pitches, they are...but they often seem to forget that they have had to pay something like £40 up front (every year) for membership. If they only go camping 5 times in a year then that £40 actually adds £8 to each trip. If they camp for two nights each time that's £4 a night added on to the actual pitch price. If they get their pitch for £10 a night they will actually have paid £14 which isn't necessarily cheaper than a similar private site.
