After spending the winter getting my gear organised and reading all the advice on these pages,I find myself caught in the Scottish deluge! Was quite anxious last night as the rain became torrential but had no need to worry as awoke this morning comfortable and dry. Very satisfying feeling, now cooking breakfast in the extension with the rain still pouring down. I think I might be getting adicted to this!
I always feel really happy and secure when I'm in the tent and it's raining stair rods outside. We have had some great family evenings with hot chocolate, sat in our sleeping bags, watching a DVD or playing cards/board games.
I think being holed up occasionally is good for the soul!
Love camping in the rain.....love camping full stop lol. First ever camp away we had everything thrown at us weather wise, kids reckon it was the best holiday they ever had!
One needs to experience bad weather in order to appreciate how glorious it can be when camping in good weather.

Well done that man! Always good when your research (and purchases/techniques etc) all come good.
Probably a good time to mention what tent you are in, seeing as it's not mention on your profile, just in case anyone is interested!

2018: Just the 30 nights
2017: 34 nights
2016: 32 nights

From July 2012: 23 nights
Nice to see I'm not alone in enjoying it! Especially as the forecast tells me I can expect another 24 hours peaking overnight before it clears. I'm going to spend the afternoon checking out some local waterfalls. Even with all the rain the scenery is so beautiful. Come to think of it the sound suggests that I pitched under my own private waterfall lol but provided the tent roof holds out I'm hooked!
I'm using a BCT task force 3 Maybe a bit old fashioned to use a cotton ridge but after my wife passed away I decided I wanted to get away more and also camp out of season,so I opted for something with a 320gsm flysheet and steel poles.Weight was no issue as I use a car but weather resistance is a must. Though I'm sure the Force 10 mark 4 which was on my shortlist is very good I opted for the most indestructable British made product I could find. It's now undergoing it's rite of passage!
Waterfalls was worth it. Now been looking at the met office weather app. When the red blotches pass overhead you can tell they aren't kidding! Beats working though! Thanks for the kind thoughts all.
