Im currently in middle of full blown cold, sore throat the works, no energy or enthusiasm for the forth coming camping trip to the lakes on friday.

Just me hubs & 5 yr old grandson. I absolutely love camping hubs is the opposite only going with the flow due to my grandson. Im the organiser the camp cook etc. its fine as I love doing it. Just dont feel I can pull this off feeling rough and dont want to admit defeat and cancel!

I can sense hubs is waiting on standbye to jump for joy lol if I say ok its off.

We are non EHU which is fine with bonus of we are allowed campfires. I no we will be all cosy but maybe I should just see if I pick up a bit leaving it to the last minute? then made decision.

If you can leave it until the last minute to decide then I'd do that. Perhaps have some contingency in place if grandson is going to be upset. Fire pit and tent in the garden?

If you are in the middle of your cold now then by Friday you should feel much better. Get lots of rest and lots of fluids. Those lemsip 24 hour cold & flu tablets are very good. Hope you manage to go. Couldn't you perhaps go early on Saturday instead? I am sure the fresh air will do you good as well.

Hi thanks for all your words of advice and encouragement, the sore throat has gone!! thank god but still have full on cold with sniffles. I have started to sort my kit but then feel washed out tired and stop. Im not beaten yet.

Im thinking of still going fresh air could do me good keep wrapped up and book local pubs for dinner, one less thing then for me to do and maybe hang on and leave early saturday morning Im not coughing now so wont be keeping any fellow campers awake at night x

Is it the cold where you lose your voice for 3 days?
I've just had it and it badly knocked me out, off work for 3 days plus a weekend in the middle. Takes a while to recover, you may want time in bed.

I got replaced from my agency job as sick and off work.

I despair of you lot. Not a single one mentioned a tot of rum or whisky..you should all be ashamed of yourselves!

As camping is something you love to do, then doing it will help you feel better, just get OH to do all the manual lifting and hard graft until you feel better. You never know, he may actually enjoy doing it for you.

AndyR1969 I dont drink!! and I dont feel much better either But the car is packed. As for hubs love him to bits bit hes on one as I think he was hoping I would cancel. Hes not a camper at all. So im lucky that I can use my grandson as my ACE card everytime. Or it would just not happen.

As for France in July I kind of convinced the muppet that the Alps was further south than it really is and obviously picts I showed him was in lovely sunny settings. People in shorts teeshirts, so as soon as he said yes I was in full on booking mode before his mind changed. Hes now since discovered the slight distortion on truth but oh dear its too late, to many bookings and deposits made. Please dont think Im evil

Hello well, I went full of cold, managed 2 nights friday and saturday than sadly through in the towel. It rained from mid- day saturday to sunday lunch time. Ok our outfit was dry but with no campfire I found it hard to keep warm.

It wasnt fun. Went to pub for dinner but my 5 yr old grandson just wanted to eat and get straight back to the tent not bothered by the rain at all. Thats my boy.

On reflection I shouldnt of gone. I still feel rough now. Hubs had seen a motorhome he liked as he hates camping as mentioned. If there is going to be a compromise thats the way forward crossing over to the dark side. Its either that or divorce.

France in July is still on as to much booked and paid for .
