Dinner table conversation last night revolved around what we should call our blue Hi Gear Kalahari 8, as on our half term camp last week we named our 'weekend / take the kids away on my own' tent.

Our green Gelert Horizon 4 is now called 'Fiona' after the character in Shrek who is a big green ogre but turns out to be beautiful, as the tent is a bit of monster with a huge lounge but we love it for the additional freedom it provides.

So, do you have nicknames for your tents, and do you have any suggestions as to what we could name our main family holiday tent.

Someone I know calls his trout lake...Wee Trouty!!!

No idea what you would call a Kalahari 8 other than the two obvious ones...Kala....Or Harry

Though if it helps....There seems to be a tradition in camping for giving them girls names....Or referring to it as she....Rather like boats....

How about the traditional Scottish name for a holiday cottage....The But and Ben???

Jelboy.

Loving all these pics and names, especially Sid!

We've all agreed our Kalahari should have a girls name in keeping with tradition, just can't agree on what.
We have two double inflatable kayaks; Hubby and daughter named theirs 'Sophie', son and I named ours 'Mississippi', and a 5 man dinghy called 'Aqua Squirrel' (I don't remember agreeing to that but it's stuck!).
My car doesn't have a proper nickname although it's now referred to as 'the packhorse' since the roofbox stays on for 9 months of the year in anticipation of the next trip.

We have an Outwell Montana Lake, which has the extremely unoriginal name of 'Monty' and a 5M bell tent that we refer to as 'Lana' with its full title being 'Lana Bell Ray' Before that it was a Vango Genesis 500 called 'Jennie' and even further back was a Coleman Bispace called 'Gary'
Its all tragically sad really.......
