Sorry for late replies, having trouble logging in using 3G on my phone!
Yes I survived the night, thankfully the wind died down by 11pmish.
Overcast but dry this morning, light wind, perfect for cooking my bacon! :-)
Walked from my campsite up onto the down - bonus, it was Weston air show, had lots of planes loop-the-looping & flying directly overhead - breathtaking even tho I'm not 'into' planes!
Got to the end of Brean Down, took a photo of the fort & was about to turn back when I met someone who said the fort was open. I'd come this far so in for a penny.....So glad I did, it was fascinating & got to view the underground gunpowder storage areas, officers mess etc. Definitely recommend a visit & the walk is easy, apart from the climb up onto the down! ;-) :-)
6.25 miles later after a not so swift cold half in the local (met a lovely family!) I return to my tent to the wind picking up and me being sandblasted again! :-(
Fabulous day :-) Now the only downside is I wished I'd used a higher SPF, F15 is not enough even when overcast, as I'll be going to bed with a beetroot red face......tho could that be the 2 (large!) glasses of vino tinto I've had with dinner?! or the relentless sand blasting?! I'll never need to exfoliate again ever!!
Hoping the wind is going to die down again tonight.........
Happy camping one & all :-)
