Wasn't expecting to make our first camp trip until next year, but a friends offered us a loan of a tent so looks like we're heading to Ayr end of July. I was wandering what was best for our 16month old twins to sleep in?
Have seen those little life penguin pods. Look fab in theory but are they really worth it? Ds and dd are still in their cots at home and move a lot in their sleep.
I took my son last year in a travel cot (18months) but this year we got a Kampa Junior Airbed for him, we are lucky though as our tent the bedroom splits into two so we open it up and he sleeps next to us.

We have two travel cots at granny's around the corner so thats fine. I think we're going to have a choice of tents so hopefully he'll have a biggish one.
What do you put them down to sleep in? Mine have a cot duvet at home, but I was thinking a sleeping bag with sleeves for camping. What tog would be best?
We have a Gelert sleeping pod and also take his gro bag type sleeping bag he used in winter and a range of pj's and fleecy/onesie/short set depending on temperature mix and match so we think he'll be warm enough.

If taking two travel cots take up too much space in the car how about an inflatable paddling pool? you can line it with a couple of self inflating mats.
That's genius! The link just took me to Asda's homepage but I had a little browse was it the Asda George rectangle pool for a tenner?
I think we would be able to fit the two travel cots in the Zafira this time we're only going for 4 days, Ayr being chosen so my partner can watch his pals in the national bowls finals. Always an alterior motive, eh?
We're only taking minimal equipment this time and all being well purchasing the rest of the gear for next year.

We used a tiny inflatable boat for a bed instead of paddling pool, then they can use it in the sea at the beach and fill and use as a bath
Also a fab idea! If I do decide to go down this route I think I'd test run it at home first! Have images of two over tired bairns escaping and hauling at each other
My little one (14mths) sleeps on an Outwell Kids SIM in a Vango Nitestar mini sleeping bag. I dress her in a long sleeve vest and fleece sleep-suit so she's warm even if she wriggles her way out of the sleeping bag. We have a four berth sleeping pod so my hubby is on the far end with me next to baby in the middle and my six year old at the other side. Works a treat and no need to lug a travel cot with us.
Oh wow hadn't come across that mini sleeping bag before bookmarked that. Only £15 at GO.... the now anyway. I think I'll just take the travel cots this time for ease but will see how their sleeping before our next trip to decide what's best. H
Have loved the suggestions though
My youngest was 20 months when we first went camping and he slept in fleecy onesies, a vest, a toddler sleeping bag (vango nite star mini), a fleecy blanket and shared a double airbed with one of his older siblings - had no problems....
