Good evening Campers
Firstly I would like to say what a brilliant place this forum is , all you guys and gals have been a big help with all your collective of knowledge
I tend to be more of a reader then a poster, this being my first post .... So go easy on me 😳

The better half and I are going on our first family camping holiday in August down to Pentewen sands with our two boys, who are 2 and 4 yrs old,

To say I'm excited is an understatement 😊 I've lost count the amount of times I've set our tent and gear up in the garden

My only worry is that my two boys wake up early in the mornings and can be rather noisy, my worry is that it will annoy the campers around us, I just wondered if it was the norm on a amily campsites, and people just except it and don't kick up to much fuss

Cheers in advance
Alex

We took our grandchildren camping when they were 3 & 5. We taught them about camping voices...not quite a whisper but not much above it. If they woke before the rest of the site, which was rare, then we went for a quiet walk in our PJ's. Other people take ipads and dvd players so the children can watch/listen through headphones.

Its certainly the norm on every family campsite we've ever stayed on. Of course, theres a huge difference between them being awake at the crack of sparrows and them running around outside at the crack of sparrows, mind. Kids are kids, you cant change that- all you can do is your best to keep them occupied until its time to get up. You're probably worrying for nothing though- if you tire them out enough and relax a bit about bedtime, they *might* sleep in a little. Maybe a trial night in the garden next time its fine, so youve an idea of whats what?

Hi Alex we are also a family with young children (last year ours were: 8, 6, 3 and 1, this year 9, 7, 4 and 2)

Our youngest two get up around 6am. We try to keep them quiet as best we can , but in our experience most people are understanding. Its not like youre up partying until daft oclock - theyre kids and so long as youre trying to keep them somewhat quiet then most people understand.

Its when theyre allowed out to do what ever they like early in the morning then I think people have a problem ie kicking balls around tents etc.

Although we try to excise consideration for our fellow campers by speaking quietly, amusing them with iphones (with headphones) and generally feeding them to keep them quiet (haha) if someone did complain then I'm afraid I wouldn't be too worried - if youre on a campsite that allows families (there are adult only ones) then you have to put up with it I'm afraid. I would politely but firmly tell them were to go. Theyre kids at the end of the day - they don't have mute buttons (unfortunately haha).

I wouldn't allow anyone to ruin my holiday by making me worry about something that you cant always control - if youre doing your best then that's good enough. You've paid as much as they have to be there and its your holiday too.

Ive only had one problem on a campsite, the people in the caravan had been loud until about 1am, my kids woke at 6am, I kept them quiet until about 7:30am and then took them to the park (no where near any pitches). Later that day the owner came by and told us shed had complaints as our children were up at 5am screaming and playing games. I politely but firmly told her that that was not the case, there might have been hushed tones talking etc from 6am just 'which one for breakfast' etc, no games, nothing, and perhaps she would ask them to keep it down that night as 1am was a bit late for racous noise. I didn't allow it to bother me, but did mention it in my review.

As I said most people are not bothered (the people in the caravan next to us actually commented on how quiet and well behaved our children were) you do get some people who only care about their time and will be ridiculous, but I just don't worry about them so long as I know ive been as considerate as I can be, theyre kids at the end of the day :)

Apologies for the essay - but Ive been there worrying about it and there really is no need :

enjoy your trip :) you and the kids will love it :)

You'll have a great time! We are new to camping having only started in April but we have been bitten by the bug and love it. We have 4 aged 9.7,7&4 and although we did have to tell them to hush a few times as people would still be asleep they were so good. We also filled them with food, played uno, read stories. We do have a portable DVD player to take with us so when we go in august for a longer time we'll let them pick a film while they eat their breakfast.
Our boys had the best time as I'm sure will yours! Enjoy x

Our kids are all grown up now but we never had any problems at all. They seemed to sleep better in a tent, probably all the fresh air and exercise.

Many camp sites tend to have a few separate areas and put young families in one and the old fogies in another.

I personally don't mind young children as long as they are well behaved. There are some unruly ones kicking footballs at the side of your caravan or riding bikes very fast.

There is nothing better than seeing families enjoying time together and that makes me well able to put up with the noise. I would much rather have kids up early than boozers making a right racket into the wee small hours as they do.

I wouldnt worry about it, after all you are going to a family site so more than likely there will be other kids the same.

like others have said just dont let them run about outside at 6am but I wouldnt worry about voices etc.

our wee boy is an early riser when we camp too

Ours are 2 and 6 now and we've been taking them since the youngest was only 10 months. They tend to go to bed later than at home as we eat a bit later and then they are playing out and generally enjoying themselves, often they are not in bed until about 8:30 / 9ish. Fingers crossed so far this has resulted in a slightly later wake up call at a more reasonable 7:30am when I certainly wouldn't ever worry about them making a bit of noise on a family site.

Just relax, enjoy yourselves and you'll soon find your own routine that works for you.

We're heading down to Porthcurno in August and are also getting very very excited about it!!

We must be very lucky, at home the kids are at at 6-6.30 bt when were amping between 8-9 and sometimes have a snooze in the day! All that fresh air wears them out! If their up early doors hopefully theyl be no que for the showers at that time and you can be ready to start your day Xx

Hi

We have camped since mine were the same age, they are 14 and 16 now. My youngest was an early riser, I often used to take him for a shower at the crack of dawn while it was quiet and we got first use of the showers.

Other than that food, quiet games and maybe wellies on and a walk if all else fails. Good to teach them camping voices as soon as they are old enough.

Couple of weeks ago we were camped next to a family with small kids. I was laughing because they were up, washed, dressed, breakfasted and washing up long before my teenagers had surfaced. Their noise didnt bother us at all, they were just jealous of our late start!
