We used a grobag with our 5 month old grandson. We put a cardigan on over the top to keep his arms warm, then layered him up with blankets which we could also remove as required. He had socks on his hands and a light hat. I personally wouldn't use a sleeping bag until a child is old enough to use a duvet at home, however you have to do what you feel is right for your family.
I have the Vango Nite star baby for sale, well ready to go. Contact me here if you are interested as it is not advertised yet.
Having said that as we summer camp have never used it for camping. Used their gro-bag from home and a roll mat. The roll mat I used to put a sheet on (cot sheet) well actually just the top part.
We also used to take a pillow case. This is to use as a sleeping bag gro-bag (which we used when bedroom at home got to 25 degrees). Pillow case can be an extra layer or keep them contained /warmed before bedtime.
