I'm feeling a bit peeved! We belong to the Caravan Club and usually use a folding camper. We had booked a pitch at Brighton Caravan Club site for our Conway Countryman for 4 nights at £104.00. We had to change to a tent pitch as my husband had to have his appendix out and I can't manouver the camper on my own. The cost shot up to £144.00 as member discounts aren't applied to tent pitches! Needless to say I shall be writing to the Club to complain! Rant over!
Their pricing regarding tents is crazy and most C.C. wardens agree.
Whilst staying in our caravan at one C.C. site for £21 per night for hardstanding pitch, hookup and awning, I enquired about cost for solo camper in two person backpacking tent without hookup.
I was staggered to be told it would be £23 per night and that wasn't a typo?
Glad you got refunded and be interesting to see price difference of my example after policy change!

Delighted to hear this! We joined the CC when we had a Conway Folding Camper many years ago and now use a caravan... and tents. Haven't had reason to investigate the cost of a tent pitch with the club since they became more open to to that type of camping but watched a few tents come and go when we were at Stonehaven last week. I too would have had plenty to say if I had discovered that my membership was not entitled to discount. Well done!
