We used to send the children to look in the grass and around the campsite for loose change that had fallen there.

The winner then had enough money to buy food from us.

It is a good game because it fights obesity (in the losers) and is very economic (for the parents)

We enjoyed this a lot

Depending on the children, searching for 4 leaved clovers, or making daisy chains can pass a bit of time.

We've just introduced 4 yr old gdaughter to Downfall, you can get a travel version, play paired with an adult.

Another vote for Uno here too.

Something a bit educational: make a camping journal, as if preparing research for say a TV programme (to make it more glamourous). Write in it about what they did, how they felt , interview the campsite staff/friendly neighbours about what they enjoy/don't like, opinions on the area. Collect pics or other items to paste in or if e-media is their thing, take photos and write it up electronically. If the latter, they could take little videos (with permission etc if necessary) and make their own voiceovers.

You never know what they might discover - like a talent for film making!

Ditto - making a film? Use their creativity to come up with a storyline to story board/write/direct etc.

If too tecchie, go back to pens and paper and colouring in books - for the adults too
