Can't help with camping light, sorry, as most of my camping gears are in a trailer waiting to be hooked up to my car!
However, with regard to camping on one's own, I would advise choosing camp sites with good facilities and 24/7 on-site wardens to deal with any issues.
I prefer to stay near the facilities block so that I do not have to walk far to use the facilities, especially late at night.
For tents, I chose ones that I could put up on my own, such as the Khyam Freelander and the Hypercamp Escala 4.
For each trip, I would recce the area online and note down the location of places interests that I would like to visit; as well as supermarkets, petrol stations, camping shops, vets, doctors, B&Q and Halfords, in case I need to go and get something that I have forgotten or needed in case of emergencies.
I would print off this list and keep the hard copy with me, in case of lack of mobile phone or internet reception.
I camp with my dog, and he loves camping and is a great camping companion.
Good luck to the OP - give it a go and I hope you'd enjoy the experience to continue.

A very nice site. I was there last year, out of season.nearly had the site to myself, a couple of tenters came at a later date. I pitched by the stream, glorious weather, fab walk to Llangdella forest.
Very helpful people and a lovely pub, which is a short walk up the road, went in there on my own. Locals and landlord very friendly, I had a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. There is a cafe/restaurant, more or less across the road from the pub.
Have a great time Butterfly.

Just back from a long weekend camping in Hastings, a Belgian family moved in next door last night and started chatting as I checked out the country of origin of their hired motorhome. As we were chatting they said they had more than enough food and invited me to dinner.
Later while passing in the opposite direct to where four attractive young ladies and their exhausted dog were gathered around their camp fire, we exchanged details of our day's activities (they'd been walking and shopping) then I said that I was returning to my tent to nibble on my malt loaf and read my Kindle. A little later I was disturbed by a knocking on my tent door by the four young ladies bringing me a cool bottle to beer to go with my malt loaf.
Solo camping can be fun, the unexpected does happen and quite often it is good.
PS the stars were amazing on Saturday night.
------------- Enjoy the liveliness of the syntax.

I have just got back from my own first solo camping trip to Sleningford Mill near Masham.
Had a nice relaxing time visiting Brymor ice cream farm and just had to try a fudge sundae. My cheap HiGear camping gear chair telling me I had eaten too much and broke on me.
I was a little apprehensive about putting up my Mojave 5 tent by myself but it went up no problem.
To anyone, like the OP thinking of solo camping and not done it yet take the plunge and do it.

Butterfly1508, many sites these days are offering to collect walking campers from bus and train stations, might be worth an ask ? :)
I too am a lone female camper who doesn't drive, but my 'damn I'm 50' gift to myself was a motorcycle licence and the motorcycle to go with.
------------- Still trying to get the packing right.

I`m going to start to solo camp next year. Me and the bike will hit the Lake district at first I think as it is only an hour away and there are some stunning sites.
