Thinking of taking mine and my son's bikes all the way up to the Lake District in August but I'm wondering if it's a good idea too because my son (11) still isn't fully road aware. Are there lots of spots where he can still cycle and be relatively safe? Possibly off road routes? I'm currently researching the area more as i prepare for our trip so all the help would be greatly appreciated. Don't want to lug them up there if it's not a good idea etc.
Thanks :)
------------- Don't follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Where are you going to have your base ? Ullswater Poorley Bridge is ok there are a few routes up to Howtown also you can travel to Greystoke & travel some good cycle routes (C22) route , Keswick through park following river off road & very good
Lots of quiet lanes where you are staying. We had good day's cycling around there and to Ravenglass and back to our campsite in Boot. But only you know the ability of you son.
