I suppose despite feeling a bit aggreived it's almost a consumable.
I think about a new car. If you drive out of the showroom and hit a wall and damage the bumper then the fact it is under warranty or new would play no part.
In lesser terms same with a puncture.
Anything could have befallen the pole, impact, wind etc etc, but one thing that happens more and more these day's is that retailers often take the harder stance because of so many people trying things on. I know its a reality as I work in retail and hear it all. If I had a pound for the phrase "look you can see the flaw"
I am surprised though that a company just on good service would be a little more responsive to it's customers.
I wonder if "tent" shops get so many calls saying there tent poles have snapped after so little use they may have had to draw a line under it so as to stay afloat.
My advice is build a relationship if you can with a retailer and that often helps with these hiccups.
My localish retailer sells the pole individually at fair prices but the same retailer sold me a roof protector saying it fits my tent when it did not.
Online tentspares sell individual poles of the Outwell type.
