Do you find bedtime is a nightmare when you get home?! After 4 nights of them falling asleep with us, we are having the mother of all showdowns at bedtime tonight.

How long does it usually take your little ones to settle down again? Mine are 17 months.

Thanks

We let our little girl stay up to when ever she drops, when we are away. Normally she is in bed at 7 at home, she is on th e go at all times when we are away so she normally sleeps in in the mornings. When we are home after trips away she is normally happy to get into bed at her normal time. She is 2.5 years old, but she has been camping since she was 9 months old., and always been the same with her sleep pattern when away.

We started taking our little boy camping when he was 8 months old, he shares our tent bedroom and 20 months old on our last trip
he has a good bedtime routine at home but does take himself off to bed inour tent in the evenings when he iis tired which i love as he must feel secure in the tent
when we get home i start the normal bed routine straight away
we go on weekend trips as well as weeks away and haven't had many problems with bedtime
how long have you been home ?
im sure if you stick with your normal routine at home things will improve

kindest regards

Mine are older and after 10 nights of us all sleeping in one tent bedroom, they are as glad as I am to have their own space again.

I agree with the others, stick with the routine and they will get the idea soon enough.

Thanks. Eventually dropped. My wee girl in her bed, my wee boy right be hind the door which made for some awkward shuffling! Hopefully wil be easier tomorrow night. Doesn't help that they egg eachother on. They usually go to bed at 7 and ditter about before they fall asleep nearer 8. On holiday they just went until they dropped. About half 9/10 usually sitting on my lap or cuddled up in the pod

When we camp, bed times go out of the window. Holidays are too short to fight about it!

We came to this conclusion after a few fairly fraught holidays...

Ours are actually okay - unlike at home we don't have a set bedtime, but we still make sure to put them to bed before us (even if its only 20 mins) lets them know that there bedtime is before ours. This means although we are more relaxed with their routine they still maintain some sort of familiarity. (they are 9, 7, 4, & 2 - and have been camping for a couple of years and the 4 year old is autistic so need some sort of familiar happenings) :)

Can be hard when there are long journeys home, especially if they sleep well in the car, come bed time and they are not tired/sleepy. Long as they are behaving and being quiet we let them stop up and try and pick up the regular routine over the next few days.
