well, just back from 5 nights at lower polladras in cornwall, nr Helston. Lovely first two nights again. Third night, I shall call them the 'clampets' moved in in their tent next door. Two grandparents, two parents and two children, in a 4 man tent, and a massive tv and aerial (aerial was bigger then the tent!) - first night: chatting and tv on til 2am. So the next day we went to see the owners of the campsite to mention it, they were absolutely lovely and went and asked them politely to keep it down (the campsite has a 11pm curfew which is why we choose it) - the next night from about 8pm, the grandmother has a bottle of wine and starts shouting and swearing as lod as she can: I don't f**king care if I disturb everyone, ill disturb anyone I fing want to ... sorry for the noise (everytime she touched the tent zip) .... Best turn that tv down... get me another fing bottle of wine...- when they refused she drank beer. Her whole family at this point are getting upset and asking her to keep it down. At 1am another camper (we were in our tent feeling quite threatened) came over and banged on the door (tv still blaring) and shouted at them to go to sleep as 2am and 1am was way too late etc. The next day we returned for lunch and the rain was torrential - noticed their tent was soaking up, not repelling water (was quite an old tent) - came back after tea and they'd gone! Will admit breathed a sigh of relief! That night banking on actually getting a good nights sleep, but no, the caravan behind us decided to have a noisy drinking session - quiet talking this was not, loud, know it all conversation punctuated by screechy laughter (they were in their awning, not van) - I was so exhausted I managed to sleep at about 12:30am, but the owners did tell us they had to go over and ask them to keep it down shortly after. Last year we had no problems, after 11pm you could hear a pin drop and the first two nights was the same. To be fair the owners were wonderful with us and understanding. But what is it with selfish people? had hardly any trouble at all last year, yet we do seem to be coming across them more frequently this year :/ is anyone else feeling the same? Camping is a mixture of tolerance and consideration - why do people have to be so selfish?
