I've got a royal bordeaux 6 zg xl. Putting the tent down in moderate winds and we have somehow ripped the top part of the tent. It's a good un at approx 28 inches long running along the pole section approx an inch into the fabric.

I only need it to last a couple more seasons as looking at getting a caravan in the next couple of years. I've just bought 2 rolls of tenacious tape as this seems to be the best stuff I can find.

How would you go about fixing this?

Obviously getting a new tent is out the question as it's pointless for what will probably end up being about 3 more outings.

Could you put a patch over the rip and tape that down? Maybe from another tent? You can pick up a tent at boot sales for a pound or so?

I think I'd try Tear Aid tape, rather than Tenacious, on a rip of that length.

Can you stretch out the fabric over a table, to get it taut and flat?

Yes I can. I will try the tenacious and see how I get on I think. Where would I get tear aid tape from?

Mucker posted a link to a canvas repair centre that fixed three rips in his tent for under £100 - it might be worth having a look for it, if you feel the tape won't be sufficient to hold for the time you need it for.

I think I bought TearAid from Amazon - it's softer in texture than Tenacious Tape, and opaque, so more discreet.

I used it on a small (3 inch long) rip in the pole sleeve of the Easycamp Planet 300 (damaged in the wind, when pitching solo). Worked a treat.

I pitched the tent, and stretched the tape over the wound whilst it was up, no puckers or anything.

28 inches is rather longer, I know. You may need another pair of hands.

Good luck with the repair. I understand your pain

As long as it holds up for possibly 4 more 1 week jaunts I will be happy
