We recently purchased a tarp to give us shelter whilst cooking outside as rain was predicted for our trip last weekend.
OH friend (newbie to camping) was unaware of the dangers and said that we could just cook inside! After we explained the dangers he wasn't soo keen.
I think perhaps something should be included in your 'check-in visits' at campsites, or a safety leaflet handed out when checking in. I know you may be teaching some to suck eggs, however for those that are unaware it would good.
During our recent trip I was thinking about buying a small carbon monoxide alarm to keep in tent?

Advice from the Camping and Caravanning Club is "Consider using a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm, provided it is suitable for the condition you intend to use it, check with the supplier/manufacturer, though it should never be used as an alternative to the precautions above."[/URL])
I have my doubts about the ability of an alarm to alert someone already suffering the early effects of carbon monoxide to take appropriate action.

I suppose so, it's probably more of a peace of mind thing. Thinking about it a little deeper, it may make some people cook closer to tent or bring unused bbq thinking the alarm will alert them?
I personally think the best way to tackle this is sewn in warnings in tent bag next to instructions, warnings on hobs and bbq's and advice/leaflets when checking in campsites.
It's scary the amount of people who don't know the dangers..
