I carry a head torch as well as hand-held torches, and do not rely solely on the lighting provided by the camp site.
I always carry a plug for the sink in case none is provided. And I need to get a bigger one as I discovered mine can be too small for some sinks, DOH!
Depending on the site and the type of pitch required, the facilities blocks can be quite a trip away. I normally request for a pitch close to the facilities block, and seldom get refused. However, I tend to go camping at quieter times, and book well in advance.
For camping in the colder months, I have a Kampa Khazi for use inside the tent.
As for transit vans, it depends on the sites, some allow them, some do not.
Take time to read the small prints when choosing a camp site, especially the facilities available to campers. Most will provide shower, toilet, hot and cold water and sinks for washing up. However, some may charge for showers, especially the more basic sites.
