Hi...does anyone use a hanging light in a tent that has the poles on the outside ?
Go Outdoors has a hanging light for £20, any good ?
Tent I use is Icarus 500
If the poles are on the outside of the tent what is there to hang a lamp from? The designer may have left you some tapes hanging down for this purpose.
Get a small cheap karabiner and leave it dangling from whatever tapes you have then clip the lamp in and out as needed, saves a lot of tying knots at night.
With a spring clip (giant peg/bulldog clip) you could hang a light from the top of a doorway while the door zip is undone, but mind your head.
Most tents have a hanging point inside the tent so you can hang a light
It differs where this point is from which tent you buy
------------- April Peak District Beech Croft Farm
May Peak District Duke of York
May Holland Delfse Hout
June Cotton Arms Nantwich
july/aug Cornwall Pentewan Sands
And quite a few local weekenders
Our Kampa Croyde has the poles on the outside, it has a hook in the middle of the tent to hang a light from. We use an Outwell Castor, good little light.
Only thing to watch is these hanging points can be prone to leaking as by stitching the hanging point in often causes a weak point. Ours doesn't leak there but we still beefed it up with a bit of seam sealant around the area just to be safe! Last thing you want is water dripping onto an electric light!

August 2015 - Piccadilly Caravan park 3 nights

If you are looking for a hanging lamp check out the Alpkit Bob, it's tiny but gives out so much light it's amazing..
I bought one before we went away this year and it rendered my large lantern and electric light redundant.
Waited 'til i'd been out with the tent and checked before responding.
...no hooks...no tapes...nothing to hang light from
'gonna have to find a light that'll stand up.
cheers all....Mike
We do. The Castor one with whatever light Mr F bought from Robert Dyas (doesn't come with a bulb).
However on our hols in France many caravanners in their awnings had small strip lights. This seemed a good idea if we would like to play cards or read in the tent where you need a brighter light.
