The Karsten mob has advised drying the tent and footprint etc. with a towel while packing them up; and I do that with my Escala 4 and soon to be ESVO Bedouin 340, to mob up as much water/moisture as possible.

Hi DK. I towelled my carpets and SIG - had to take the bedrooms out to get at the back end. Fan heater was a big help too. The footprint came up with a half inch layer of mud caked to it, so that got hosed down rather than towelled and is now festering in a bin liner whilst I contemplate how best to dry everything!
I kept the towel clear of the fly though as I've heard that residual laundry detergent can compromise proofing (poly cotton). I'd be glad of everyone's wisdom re that.
I have used a towel to wipe off the morning dew etc; prior to packing up, on my polyester tents for years with no adverse effects (that I am aware of) other than suffering the nagging of my wife who has to wash it on my return. However, consensus of opinion seems to suggest that residual detergents on towels can remove the silicon protection on the outside of tents, so maybe not a good idea really unless you can keep a detergent free towel specifically for the purpose.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. We had a couple of hours of dry weather yesterday with a fresh breeze and even some sunshine - just enough to get everything dry in the garden (hooray for decking). What a great start to the year's camping!
