Been skulking on here for quite a while and thought I'd finally say 'Hi'!
Now in our early fifties, we have been camping in tents, VW campers and caravans since the late 1970's....with a few years off between.
We ran a campsite / holiday park in Ceredigion for three years between 2005 and 2009 and now after a couple of hotel fuelled years have got the camping / outdoor bug again.
Unfortunately, our old Gelert Horizon has bitten the dust over the past 3 years in the garage so it's time for a new tent!
Off to the NEC tomorrow to see what's about. We are looking at a framed 5 berth Outwell or Vango with a budget of about £400ish if anyone has any thoughts??
We have already joined the CCC & booked Easter at Eskdale. We have also booked Clover Fields in early July and looking at possibly Northumberland for a week in late September.
Looking forward to picking up loads of advice and tips off other forum members on here.
Sorry for misleading post.
I had previously posted on the forum back in 2012 but I had forgotten!
I had some health problems in 2013 hence the unloved tent and our time in hotels.
Now back in decent health (apparently)!
Lots of tents out there would fit your bill. We have an Outwell Nevada M bought about 4 years ago, we really like it and use it by itself or with the awning. The design is slightly different now but they still make a version of the same tent.
Best thing to do is look at a good tent display to see how they feel when you are in them :)
Would advice skipping the polyester tents and consider polycotton or preferably cotton canvas tents . Do some research, a used canvas tent from a higher end company would see you through 10-20 years of camping. Enough said
Thanks for the comments.
Settled for an Outwell Whitecove 5 with carpet and footprint. Bought online, together with a new table and various bits and pieces, when we got back from NEC.
Did like the LED strip light in the Nevada MP on the Outwell stand but couldn't find them at the show.
Online stores have them as being available from 04/16.
Looking forward to a trial run next weekend, putting the Whitecove up in the garden. Postman and weather depending of course.
