Morning all. We're about to buy a 2013 Volkswagon Sharan, but it doesn't have roof rails. Advice on the web seems to indicate that we can't fit our roof bars on unless the car comes with the roof rails.
Anyone out there have the same sort of car and can advise?
if I could persuade Himself to get a trailer, I'd get a caravan!
I've managed to find the owners manual online that states you need roof rails to fit a roof box :( Looks like we'll have to pull out of buying this one, which is a bit of a shame given we've been after a car that can fit all the gear in for months now.
Think it will be the different vehicle - either a different model of the Sharan which has roof rails or maybe a Galaxy. When we were last buying a car, I'd take along the baby buggy to check boot size. It's a bit more difficult to take along tent, cool box etc etc
We used to have a Polo which obviously didn't gave roof rails so we had the Thule rapid fit bars which clamped onto the gutter at the top of the door.
We've since got a touran which does have rails and so we use a different foot pack.
Take a look at the Thule site. You maybe able to use your existing bars but get a different foot pack.

I could have posted that, we went from a Polo with the gutter to a Touran with the bars, on our second Touran now love it :)
