My roof box is a cheapo one that can only opened on one side, and if I were to get another roof box, I would spend a bit more and get one that can be opened on both sides for ease of loading and unloading.

However, a roof box is not as practical as a trailer, as the former required to be emptied at the end of each trip for the roof box and bars to be removed from the car.

The reverse was true at the beginning of a trip - I had to fix the roof box and bars assembly to the car first before I could load the roof box, etc. etc...

With the trailer, I do not need to empty it after each trip, just un-hitch from the car and push into the garage.

I am lucky that I have garage where I can keep my trailer, and it doubles up as tent drying rack after a wet pack up.

DK

Unfortunatly I don't have a garage and my front garden has a wall completely across it, except for a small gate. So a trailer is not an option and paying for storage is pointless.
As someone said I'm a previous point. I could store it behind the shed if I had to worse case scenario.

I have a 2015 qashqai. I have a 17 month old toddler so stroller be needed.

We have a Kamei 510 roofbox. We previously had a Thule but this is as good (and will accommodate more stuff) and customer service and advice has been great from Martin at The Roofbox Company (I believe he previously worked for Thule).

As for the stroller, there's no need for it to take up valuable space in the roofbox. For our grandchildren's stroller we had a waterproof bag made up by TVS in Bolton, which we just bungee to the roof bars next to the box. It's a compact and lightweight stroller so doesn't take up much of the bar loading weight.

I've tried lifting roof boxes today. I could just about lift one on my head without nearly toppling over. These were 320 l and 420 ones. Lol
What are the bag roof rack things like?
