Hey along the bottom front door of my tent there is a rip. Under 30cm long. does not effect the tent itself. I asked around and have a few prices over £75 just for 1 rip. Many seem to have a min set price.
Not wanting to spend so much money I am thinking of doing this myself. Buying some good thread and tent fabric. Has anyone done this before.
If it is just tear I would repair it with Tenacious Tape.
Position the torn fabric correctly and apply masking tape to hold it in position. Turn the fabric over and apply a strip of Tenacious Tape along the entire length of the tear. Turn the fabric over again, remove the masking tape and apply another strip of Tenacious tape to that side.
Difficult to say, without seeing a pic, but if it's a cut in the fabric, rather than zips/hems or similar just hanging off, I'd be very tempted to agree with Bernie, above. It really is good stuff!

Having never done a repair myself before. I used the tape at the end of last summer. It was really easy and the repair is holding up well. I have used the tent 3 or 4 times since putting the tape on. No water leaks or further rips. My rip was on the roof of the front porch so is under tension. Really happy with the Tenacious tape. I will carry it in the camping bag from now on.
I use Tenacious tape for patching up ripped coats (mtb'ing) & it holds up really well. No sign of coming off after multiple washes. I stamp out round patches or round off the edges for bigger patches. One patch lasted over a year on a tent pole sleeve before I got it repaired properly (to sell). We have several patches on the footprint too.
I'd still sew the OP's repair - cheaper than Tenacious tape & sounds like it's in an area that doesn't matter too much & easy to DIY (assuming they have a machine)
