My son must think I'm strange as I weighted him on the scales and asked him to hold the Hoover. His weight and Hoover is 7stone 5lb. I could just about lift it, walked around the house for a few minutes but anything heavier and my back would break. Sometimes I won't have my elder kids with me but still plan to go away with a friend but would have to set car up unaided as she lives a bit of a distance to pick her up.
So I could have the studland 8 in polyester. The croyde or at a push illusion.
I was watching you tube videos.
Space I think is important, my surrogate mum and dad says it sounds far too big and too bulky and for the cost he thinks I can get better and lighter. They have a motorhome and in their 60s. I do listen to her advice and Appreciate it. They been camping once.
But they are not campers.
The studland 8 is my fave tent with their features
I also like the illusion as you can extend if you want by adding sun canopies etc. Plus the roller wheeled bag. So I would only have to lift from my car to the floor.
The croyde is the smallest of the two and doesn't have the extra pod I like as an option for sleeping or storage if needed or a Loo ha ha( sorry that was me trying to add extra humour)

Please give me your views. As I listen to everyone's advice.
I feel like I'm the annoying forum poster.

I think the wheeled bag is a plus. Our Pescara is about 32 kilos and I have a bad back. The poles are in a separate bag and probably weigh more than the tent. I can bung both in the boot but the poles are a pain (sometimes literally) The tent bag just gets trundled out like a suitcase and slid into the boot.

Only thing is the tent is 48kg so that's putting me off.
Think I will get the studland 8. Been in tears with the health visitor when she popped round over it. As don't know what to do

No need for tears you'll work it out..

I would not want to be lugging around nearly 50kg of tent tho.

I would get a lighter Hoover or starve your son

Don't forget that the weight manufacturers give for their tents is usually the gross weight and includes the tent, poles, pegs and tent bag. Most tents arrive from new with the poles wrapped up in their own bag in the middle of the rolled up tent. If you split the poles from the tent and carry them separately you will find you have pretty well halved the weight.

Just spotted your other thread and you want a blow up tent, so no splitting the weight then

...and at home you could try the Vax Air vacuum

Studland 8 polyester is 42kg, 9kg lighter than the polycotton. So I think I will go with that. i can lift my son at 40kg while he is holding at pack of 12 waters which weighs 2kg.

The tent bags are sold seperately by Vango but not in the size you need.

How about a collapsable trolley in the link below, quite compact one folded and can be used for taking chairs etc to the beach too so serves quite a few purposes.

Kampa do a very similar product maybe worth talking with who you bought the tent off and see if you can strike a deal rather than cancel the whole order??

Picking up the lad will be harder than same weight of tent I reckon so that's good. Poles can't be split out as Bob noted but maybe the groundsheet & pods can to make it more manageable?

Looks like an idea but every bit of space I need for pushchair and other extras, only have a qashqai and will be getting a roof box but with kids they take loads

? Not sure if you are happy with my suggestion, worth also googling fishing trolleys, cheaper and with bungess will do a good job.

I have been reading your tent dilemma posts and understand its a big decisions. Tbh I don't think there is much difference between a 50kg tent and a 46kg one, so go for the tent you want. You talk about getting the tent from garden to car, but at the site you should've able to park where you pit h, so the trolley doesn't need to be packed, wheel tent to car, pack tent, put trolley back in shed.

Maybe, I just can't make my mind up. I can't lift the 52kg and my daughter has back trouble. So I got to be mindful. I do like the 4 pod concept but the croyde is nice. The illusion had a wheeled bag so that helps with the weight and I wouldn't have to buy an extra trolley and store it, I like he rivendale except for the half door and you got the raised bit to step over. Otherwise it's nice. I like the studland 8 which is polyester version to the one of was originally going to get

Ok I understand what about the Croyde 6 and buy an extra pod/inner tent like below.

Inner Tent

Or consider a small pop up tent as an inner and your oldest could use it later as a pup tent.

I have looked at the croyde, he bag packed not much different in size, weight is a bit lighter.
Ive been researching the pro and cons of the tents on my short list, weight, size, packed size, got the tape measure for my boot. Even got boxes and bag to help me estimate the widest and longest part of the tents packed at hoem, got my son and hoover which weighed 46kg to see what it was like lifting that weight.
Got sized for my table, chairs, pictureed where i can store things in the car, roof box is so needed.
Looked at smaller tents but they only have 2 pods, and then with the awning, it works out same size and price.
