I bought a tent secondhand - has sewn in groundsheet in bedroom area - so all fine there but was supposed to have a separate groundsheet for the living area but it was missing.

I have bought a footprint for the specific tent and a carpet (its an Outwell Arizona)- do I need to but another groundsheet as well?

I can see a few cheap ones on eBay for the living area with eyelets around - although slightly too big on the length (could tuck under bedroom area or cut down?)

Just wondered if you guys thought this was a good idea or even necessary if you have a footprint.

The thing about a groundsheet in the living space is that it would have raised sides to stop rain from flowing through your tent. If you put the carpet directly on the groundsheet there's nothing to stop that.

A couple of things you can do.

1) enjoy the feel of grass between your toes - have nothing. Fold your footprint in half and put it under the sig part of the tent only

2) go back to the vendor and get them to either give you a refund or find you the groundsheet

3) make one, by buying a builders tarp (woven polyethethelene and having it cut to a bit bigger than what you need so it goes up the sides or your tent a little bit.

Unfortunately cant do the second option as like a fool, I bought the tent a year ago and didn't open it until recently which is when I realised that the SIG didn't go all the way under both sections.

Re the third option - there are ties in the living room to secure tarp to the sides - are these enough or would you recommend using some Velcro to attach more securely?

Under those circumstances, you may not be able to contact the seller and "demand" the groundsheet (or refund), but surely it's worth a call to mention the situation. You never know, they may have lost (or not had) your contact details, and they may have found the groundsheet in the shed after you'd gone.
They may have kept hold of it, expecting you to call, and be more than happy for you to have it, even after all this time (if they've not binned it or given it away?
Might mean you have to go and collect it, of course, but got to be worth a call, at least?
Much better to have the proper one for it, if at all possible.
