... having a fry up at home compared with having a fry up sitting outside my tent basking in the morning sun, or eating it inside the tent if the weather is foul.

It is one of the joys of camping for me, cooking and eating al fresco.

Roll on June 2016 for my next trip!

Still have the rest of the defrosted food to cook up, as I cannot re-freeze them. The pets will be happy!

Shame you had to cut your weekend short but judging by the damage to the trees,fences etc caused by the wind and flooding everywhere it was the sensible thing to do. Roll on the better weather. Camping myself the weekend of the 9th April. A friend's 60th birthday to attend. Hopefully it'll be a bit drier by then.

Really sorry to hear your trip was cut short. As MOWWD said it was the sensible thing to do. There was even a horse barn blown over somewhere!

Cooking and eating outside is definitely a highlight - puts an edge on the appetite and just feels so right. You did the wise thing. Let's hope spring is on its way and summer to follow. Rooks are nesting high so crossed fingers that bodes well for many an al fresco meal

GW always offers me a cooked breakfast when she can cook outside the tent dk, she actually enjoys it. At home its just an empty bowl and the cornflakes box beside it. I even have to get my own spoon out of the drawer.

Cooked all the un-eaten camping food.

At one stage, both the cat and the dog were waiting outside the kitchen in the hope I would feed them.

They were rewarded with rump steak, cooked rare.

And black pudding and sausage too!

You could always set the stove up in the garden and then eat out there. Though the neighbours may give you some funny looks.

Garden is a mess, and I have not even BBQ'ed out there for the past 2-3 years!

It is on the list of "To Do", however, it is not that high up in the list of priorities.

My kids love a power cut because the camping stoves come out into the back garden and we cook on them there....not quite the real thing but brings camping a little nearer.
Why am I always hungry when camping?

Put your windbreak up to hide the garden. Will feel even more like camping then.
