Wouldn't know as I was in the boys brigade.
We were under almost military discipline at camp but the toothpaste was mainly used for putting on those who had fallen asleep. It was a bit kinder than blacking them up with kiwi polish.

Wasted space and extra weight to carry in my opinion. As I have been trying to explain to Mrs Mitch and my other camping buddies for the last 40+ years--the whole idea of camping is to "be at one " with nature.Any chance encounters with bears, wolves, badgers etc would cause them no alarm and a few quick sniffs would convince them I was one of their own. The toilet block is usually quite a way off too--this helps to sway my decision.
As for clean underpants MR...You never saw Tarzan change his..and he got along ok.
Toothpaste also not required..a quick gargle with some left-over beer from the night before(scouts always have a hidey-can of beer somewhere) and a rub over with a hiking sock --job done!
Marvellous memories of scout camps--you could run around with axes and knives--light fires--chop trees down--OH and not get washed for days on end.
Then--somebody thought of Health and Safety
I think the chances are high that neither will be used Purplebean.
Great weekend for camping though, hope he has a great time. We are off for a quick 24hr camp with our Cubs in a couple of weeks, hope the weather is as good for us.
He is in the shower right now as he stinks, mostly of smoke. He didn't wash or brush his teeth and he came home wearing the same socks and pants that he was wearing on Friday..
He has cooked all of his own food on a campfire and that included using axes and lighting the fire themselves

Excellent, just how a Scout (or Cub) camp should be.
Scouts and a toilet block? Luxury! We had 3 screens on Scout Camp, one for washing behind, and the 2 other screens each had a hole dug behind them. Going behind the left hand screen resulted in everyone on the site yelling "WE KNOW WHAT YOURE DOING" at high volume, and awkward questions upon emerging from behind the screen! Everyone would try and make a calculation towards the end of the camp from what point you could last until the minibuses stopped at the motorway services on the way home!
