So I was wondering what the best loop knot is to put in the top end of a guy line where it's going to be hooked over the top of a king pole to support a tarp?
I have no idea about knots but a quick Google has thrown up the bowline and the Lefty Kreh non-slip mono (which seems to be used mainly by anglers). From what I can tell the latter seems to be just a bowline with some extra loops around the line, but as I said, I'm a complete novice.
It doesn't need to be anything fancy - just needs to be secure (the tarp is 6 x 4 m so I don't want it flying away in a stiff breeze!) and provide a fixed loop that can be quickly hooked into a carabineer or over the spike on top of a pole.
I already tied some loops in using the non-slip mono as it was the first one I stumbled across and it seems to do the job as far as I can tell without actually rigging up the tarp to test for real, but now I'm just wondering what others would use?
