after nine years of camping taking heaps of stuff with our family of six we're having a big change, our older children are 20 and 18 now, and are holidaying abroad with friends. so after years of having mpv's ,trailers, even a vw van at one stage, we have down sized to a used ford fiesta, and roof box, sold all the stuff we can do without, and going back to basics like we did at the start! we've sold the huge heavy wolf lake tent and gone for something much lighter and smaller,we're not even taking a cooker and stand, it'll be cereals for breakfast, salads etc for dinner. plus we will eat out a couple of times, the huge electric cool box has gone, in its place a folding bag and ice blocks, as i say just like we had at the beginning. we were going to finish with camping this year but we simply can't, i think its in our blood, we are determined to make this work as its great to have a smaller cheaper car after all these years. happy camping. gaz

Well done you, I must admit camping with minimal equipment is heaven sent, and my most memorable camping trips have been on my touring bicycle, 4 days trips from Manchester to Scotland via the Lakes.
Just me the bike, and 20kg of kit, including the Hilleberg Nallo2 GT Tent, which even with footprint only tipped the scales at 2.5kg.
But there again, for our fortnights campings in the South of France during July, I would not be without a single item of our 1000kg of kit!
