After various combinations we've finally settled with the kampa together double camp bed and 2 outwell dreamsleeps on top. With a fitted fleece bedsheet and fleece duvet cover on a feather duvet it's perfect. Cotton sheets in-between for warmer weather and a fleece blanket on top if required.
Really comfortable, no bar feeling in the middle, high enough to stash bags under and get in and out of bed easily. It's incredibly warm, cosy and great on the back!
Millerblade. It seems to me , like us you are airbed people and nothing will change us. We have the intex raised airbed as well. It was a birthday pressie and yes its great, but does run the risk of getting a puncture. Before we got it, our sort of solution was 2 low cheapo airbeds, placed one on top of the other with some anti slip stuff between them. This gave us the height we wanted and should the worst happen and one got a puncture we didnt end up on the floor. At £20 for 2 low ones your not going to break the bank should and when you have to chuck them away.
The Kampa Dream XL is a lovely camp bed. Plenty of room, and the XL mat fits just right on it. They are big and bulky though, so you do need the room to transport them, as well as enough room in your sleeping pod.
I used my Therm-a-rest Luxury Map directly on the ground and found it to be very comfortable. Could not feel my hip against the ground when I am sleeping on it sideways.
So comfortable I bought a spare to make them into a double as and when required.
I recently used one of them as an extra bed on the floor in a hotel room, and my friend slept very soundly, and she is no stick insect.
My advice is to blow air into it to make it harder/firmer.
