Hi folks,

Long time no see!

We have just bought a folding camper for last minute holidays now it is just the two of us, after last year's accident where I badly dislocated my shoulder whilst camping on Skye, and a recent unexpected health issue that is still ongoing but hopefully will soon be resolved, I decided that we need to make the most of opportunities to go away but without the hassle of having to sort out tents and camping equipment, pack it all and then set up all for just a few nights for the two of us, so we are now new owners of a 2005 Pennine Fiesta!

We will still be tent camping for longer stays and of course if any of the kids decide they want to come along, but pitching a Cabanon Espace 8 for just the two of us is overdoing it a bit, I feel.

So still under canvas but with more comfy beds and less setting up time, now the wait begins for an opportunity to go away in it, hoping for some time at the end of July and during August when work goes quiet for a while!

I can't wait to try it out,so watch this space!

Jane.

Well that is a coincidence. I thought about you the other day and wondered how you and your shoulder were getting on. Good to hear things have improved enough that you are getting out into the fields again.

So glad to hear it! Funnily enough we have just got a second hand trailer tent. Been away for one night just to see how it sets up and for 5 days in Dorset - must say we are impressed. Like you we've decided that if it's a sunny weekend to up and away and there's a nice big front box that we can keep loads of stuff in ready to go! (That's the plan anyway)
We are also keeping our tents and are, hopefully, off to Southern Ireland in September in the tent (partly due to the cost of towing)
I hope you will have many happy days in your folding camper, as I'm sure you will.
Happy to hear your shoulder's better!

Thanks guys!

Still having physio almost a year down the line, but at least pain is under control and I can at least lift my arm 90 degrees now.

Thanks to you both for your kind thoughts, I can't wait to get out there again, going through a cancer scare (yet to be resolved!) hot on the heels of a pretty catastrophic injury certainly makes you consider your priorities, and I would much rather be out in the natural environment than dealing with the day to day c**p where we currently live.

Life is too short to not find ways to escape from it wherever possible.

Southern Ireland sounds like a fantastic antidote to urban life, floppy-poppy!

hey, great to hear from you and to know you are well on the mend - although tempered by other health issues... your free spirit and adventurous camping soul remain and will not be dimmed... I hope you enjoy lots of sunshine weekends away and continue healing

We're thinking of going down the folding camper route. With my arthritis, I'm finding it harder and harder to do my share of pitching, pegging out and striking and I need a really comfy bed. We spent 10 days in Cornwall, we've been back a week and my knees still haven't recovered.

We bought a motor home last year and have hardly used it. It just isn't the same as being in a tent and a motor home that's big enough to be comfortable is a pain in the jacksie to take round little lanes and find space to park.

Mr Fran actually uttered the "c" word, but I really don't fancy joining the shed-pullers so a folding camper seems to be the best compromise.

We're going to look into what sort will suit us best and    probably sell the motor home next spring and start looking for a folding camper.

Me and the hubby are after a folding camper, but are yet to find the one. Proving difficult, not many near us and we keep missing out on ones we're arranging to view :(

You will love the FC. All the comforts of a tintop with the sounds and smell of canvas. We went from a TT to ours due to the passage of time. i.e. getting older. Its great for just a couple of nights as we dont need to put the awning up. You mayfind yxour using it more and more and the tent less and less.

We recently bought a second-hand Camplet. OH is in a wheelchair with just one leg and we managed it just fine.highly recommended if you need to be off the floor with health issues.
