We've got a coleman galileo which is an 8 man tunnel tent and spacious. Relatively easy to put up with 2 of you, and has both the sleeping extensions at either end which are ideal. We have 3 kids, and a dog and still leaves plenty of space.

Costco were selling these for about £350 last year, but I know the model is now discontinued so you may be able to pick up a cheap second hand one, although Coleman now have the Coastline model which replaced it I believe , you can normally always add side extensions to the Coleman tunnel range to give you even more space.

Hi, I spent a lot of money on a polycotton tent and regret it, its huge, fills my entire estate car boot and i can just manage to lift it, at over 50kg. The people opposite us on holiday had a good quality polyester tent, it rolled up to the size of a large sleeping bag.

I can recommend the Hypercamp Alaska from Obelink. It's got a good size sleeping area that splits in two if needed, a nice lounge area big enough for the four of you.

It's a cotton tent, and so is heavier than a poly tent but is manageable by one person, easy to put up and take down.

The whole front opens up which is great on rainy or sunny days. It's warm at night and cool in the day.

It would take half your budget leaving the other half for sleeping, sitting and cooking items.

The camp site manager cycled passed three times when we were packing up, a small crowd of camper friends were sitting having coffee being entertained as i wrestled with this tent, rolling about on the ground trying to get it back to something close to its original pack size. Not an easy morning, buckets spades and balls all given away, now spending a fortune on a towbar and trailer
Left the campsite at 11.30 made the ferry terminal cut off by 6 minutes, 80mph most of the way from Vendee to Cherbourg, couldnt see the kids for luggage but could hear them moaning so all ok

Well, the deed is done, we've bought a Kampa Croyde Air 6 - he's happy as it's a huge inflatable thingy, I'm happy as it was a factory second, massively reduced as the porch groundsheet is missing.

It arrives tomorrow, then we have to get the other camping essentials to go with it!!

I'm thinking about starting an Alamosa re-homing charity and would be pleased to consider accepting your tent.

Oh my goodness, it's arrived and the bag is huge! Bit of a disappointment as it was really windy yesterday, we got as far as getting the footprint groundsheet out and it nearly took off with us attached, so we decided to leave the tent for another day, just hoping it doesn't rain before hubby gets home from work now!
