I'm a midwife, and deal with and see all kinds of things (as you can imagine). And none of it remotely bothers me, and I can happily eat and drink while talking about absolutely anything.

But don't ask me to touch feet. I can't bear them. You know when people say about how babies have cute lovely little feet and they'd like to kiss them? Nope. Can't even touch my own children's feet. They're horrible disgusting things!

Mooncup is a godsend when camping, but alternatively wet wipes and nappy bags help.

I feel your pain!
Having spent two weekends camping at festivals, bleeding fairly heavy at both (tmi, I know) and having porta loos and no hand washing facilities, I have got a solution that works for me.
I take a good supply of baby wipes and hand sanitiser.
Also a good idea with the bags for disposal if you can't dispose straight away they can be carried off to other bins. We also use a toilet bucket in the tent at night to save the constant dashing off out of the tent. Felt quite self conscious at first then realised as long as I felt clean I felt happpier.
Good luck, at least I don't feel alone anymore!

This year is the first year my teenage daughter has had her periods whilst camping and had to learn the hard way when she was at Scout Camp with no female leaders. One of the older female scouts helped reassure her about how to cope.

Thank goodness for baby wipes and nappy sacks!
