Hi, I'm looking for advice on buying a tent.
I was set on getting the Coleman instant tourer 4, as it seems very easy to erect and is quite high, also only £70 from Amazon, but reports of excessive condensation have made me think again.
the reasons for my choice are that I have several medical conditions, one being cancer and the other is I also suffer from a dodgy back, now although at the moment my cancer doesn't stop me from wanting to go camping, the bad back does limit my tent erecting ability. I want a tent I can handle on my own, so if the mood takes me I can get away 'from it all' for a night or so.
I would be grateful for any recommendations. Thanks in advance,
We have a Kampa Brean 4 Air which is really easy to pitch - 3 beams to pump up & a single fibreglass pole for the canopy. But even though the airbeams make it easy to put up, it still has to be pegged out the same as any other tent so with a bad back it could still be hard work.
The Olpro Pop looks really good but it's only 2 berth & not standing height so may still not be great for your back.
It might be worth looking at Decathlon's range of air & pop-up tents?
It's single skin, but the design is brilliantly simple- I can have it up by myself in under a minute, plus a couple of pegs at each corner. Taking it down is almost as quick.
We have a bell tent too, but for instant camping, I take the Coleman.
Like all single skin tents there can be some condensation, but I don't find it an issue.
An obvious competitor to the Coleman would be the Quechua popups, but I suspect with a bad back you'd find the Coleman much easier. Nothing springy to wrestle with.
I have an Olpro Pop (in fact I have two, because my eldest son claimed the first one) and you can get 10% with code UKCS. There's 10% off all sales online at the moment anyway. This brings the tent down to about £53 and there's free p&p.
As an overnighter I would say it's great, it's not quite single skinned - much of it is double skinned. As a two berth it's very roomy, but not stand up height.
