Interesting. Now I come to think about it, my tents have been getting progressively lighter. My first, a two man dome, was purple; my second, a three man dome was blue and a lighter more pinky purple and actually felt darker inside than the first one. My third three man dome was two-tone green with - oh joy! - windows in the porch, and my fourth and probably last, given how creaky I'm becoming, is an Aztec three man tunnel, also with porch windows, a lighter green. I'm not one who needs blackout for sleeping, so it suits me fine and looks comfortable in the landscape. For me, lighter is definitely better.
As for accessories, the bedroom area carpet is a dark plaid but I found a kingsize 'fake patchwork' duvet cover in a charity shop and made it into a single duvet cover and pillowcase, moon chair throw and cushion cover and small table cloth - all very bright, fresh and cheery - oh, and a length of bunting for those frivolous moments. A couple of bright toning bathmats used as doormats complete the look.
