Morning I have recently purchased a Gelert Horizon 8 and then the side porch to match. As it seems unlikely we will get away this year do to having no kitchen equipment yet I am asking the forum members to give me any advice, wisdom or pointers in anything to do with it from assembly to tips or mods made to make things easier.
Any constructive info will be greatly appreciated.

One actual question I do have it seems that on one side of the tent you have a lip over the door to stop rain running in I think. Do you put the porch over this or use the other side which doesn't seem (from pictures) to have one?

Many thanks

Steve

It doesn't really matter which side if the porch is your only entrance, if you plan on using the other door then like saz said put it over the other side.

One of the issues with side porch is getting it flush against the tent and not leaving gaps.
We have found that it makes it a lot easier if you initially peg the poles to the porch closest to the tent down first to prevent them moving whilst you do the rest.
Also make sure that all your doors are closed and fully zipped when erecting the tent and the porch, if you don't do this you will almost certainly not be able to zip up fully for the night!

I love my horizon 8, I'm sure you will too, get the carpet & footprint if you haven't already!

Thanks for the info.
When you say peg the poles down do the poles have peg holes or do you mean the porch loops closest the tent?
I am trying to get a carpet and footprint but struggling to find any.

It's the metal loops which are connected to the pins. The pins are at the base which fix into the porch poles.

The loops are not meant to be pegged down I don't think but worked a treat for getting the porch flush against the tent.
