I'm picking this up tomorrow complete with 2 bedroom inner & carpet - a 2nd hand bargain only used 16 days.
Our current tent is getting on for a polyester although it shows no sign of failing yet at 10 year old & we've been looking for the next tent. I liked the look of the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8 but Mrs not so keen. She would quite like a wood burner for the tent & I don't like bell tents so the Kiowa seems a good alternative with a reasonable weight & pack-size.
It's for us & our teenage son. If we don't like it we'll flog it on. If we like it we'll get the woodburner. If we like it but it's too small for the 3 of us we'll hang on to it until he's no longer coming with us. Floor space is a little bigger than our current tent which we class as massive so we think it'll do the job.
They could have been rowing over one of them buying such a crappy tent... but then they could have been rowing over who gets custody of the tent should they divorce, as it's so fantastic!
You really should have butted in, VM. You may well have now been in a position to advise spiritburner accordingly.
Don't be so polite next time! Think on!
Must admit, this tent has caught my eye a few times in the past, albeit only photo's on-line. I "THINK" I prefer the look to a Bell tent... but then I've not seen either in the flesh.
Looks a lot like the Outwell Indian Lake, I think Robens are part of the Oase group, so the DNA of that tent looks to be in this one. Looked round one at the NEC a couple of years ago, complete with burner inside, nice and cosy feel
I dont know how close you are to United british caravans near Gosforth n/cle--but they recently had one of these set up in the showroom complete with stove etc. Always good to see set up before parting with your hard earned!
We're going from 523cm x 264cm floorplan to heptagon of max 450cm x 450cm. I'm hoping it works out. As said, if 2 small for 3 we'll likely keep it until the lads doing his own thing & then use it for just the two of us. If its a total fail for us we'll move it on.
It is the same size as our tipi tent Spirit. We think it more than big enough for the three of us plus a big Labrador. I suppose it depends on what you are used to though.
We stack our sims/bags during the day in the bits you can't use at the sides.
Cheers PaulaB - sounds good. That's much what we do with the old tent too. Plus our terrier takes up no room. You have a wood burner too I think if memory correct?
Yes we do Spirit and it is great but does make the useable tent space a good bit smaller. Our chimney goes up next to the centre pole and we angle it to one side of the door so as to leave a clear exit route.
A heat pal is another option - love it, takes no room up and you can cook on it as well. Our heat pal is probably used more than the wood burner tbh. Easier for weekends. You can buy them for £120 ish at chandleries and sometimes at Amazon.
Aye - I think we'll be ok. Now the lads 14 we're either sitting or lying in the tent so not dashing around or mucking about inside.
I've got an old paraffin bowl heater (like a tilley with a parabolic reflector) or a fan heater for when we have use of a hookup to give some extra heat.
Robens make some lovely quality polycotton tents, of which this is one. You'll see discussion/info./opinion on UK Bushcraft and Song of the Paddle forums...........
