Certainly can't afford a Karsten. I like the look of the Obelink from above.

I have the Hypercamp Eldorado from the Obelink website, haven't tried it yet, but am looking forward to it - but I agree with you that if you live in a flat, however fabulous cotton / canvas tents are, drying might be an issue.

Yeah, drying out the Obelinks would be a pain in a flat. That and carrying them up the stairs.
It can be done though...

Ok so I know they stopped making them a few years ago, but I have a Vango June 500. Supposidly a 5 person tent, but plenty of room for two. Due to its single central pole it's a doddle to put up on my own.

But as I said they are no longer made, but maybe there is something very similar out there?

Personally I'd look at an air beam. I have a Vango and love it, so much easier to pitch. Whilst it is possible to pitch a pole tent on your own, try it when there is a bit of wind. There are plenty of offers on at places like Go Outdoors. Whilst they won't be up to the quality of Karsten, they will do the job and enable you to camp with ease and comfort.

I bought a Berghaus air 6 last year and believe i only paid under 400 in a sale with an extra 20% off. Took me 10 mins to pump up and set up on my own the first time of using it. It easily sleeps 4 but 6 is a push. Has a large living area and 2 bedrooms at either end.
I also bought an extension for it which was only 180 in a sale.
Have used it in high winds and it was perfect.
Having used poles for many years i am a convert to air.

Before we got the caravan, we had a five man hi gear tent. I used to put it up myself in around fifteen minutes. It was a lovely tent with a porch and I paid £100 second hand. We used it about 15 times and when it come to selling it on a car boot sale, no one would pay £20 for it. Ended up selling for £8. Looking back I could kick myself but it might be worth looking around booties, you never know you might find a bargain and have extra money left to buy other camping equipment

Morning
We had a poled tent up until June and then took the plunge and got an air tent. We went for a Kampa daymer 8 (for 3 of us 😀). I would never have been able to put up our old poled tent by myself but I would be able.to pump up the new tent. It is heavy though (34 kg verses 25kg of the poled tent)
We love the air tent but would agree to go and check out some tents before taking the plunge x

How bout a cabanon Barbados or Guadalupe? You can pick them up second hand, nearly new?
We had the Barbados, it was easy to put up, I could do it on my own.
It would need to dry, but so would any tent? I dried ours just on the lounge floor, it didn't take long x

Another vote for Obelink. I have the Eldorado and Alaska.

The Eldorado would be more suitable for drying in a flat as the Alaska is a bit heavy to cart up stairs.
