If I have one criticism of this survey is that it doesn't ask the size of the tent. Otherwise it is one of most sensible ones we've been asked to answer.

Thank you all for filling in my research survey months ago. I've now completed the design project and would be really interested to know your thoughts on my new concept suitable for cooking inside a tent.

If you could spare 5 minutes it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

I am the pround owner of a new (to me) bell tent, which is entirely cotton canvas.
I have cooked inside on my little Trangia which I consider safer than gas, but I am glad I didn't this weekend, as the burner has developed a split, and it melted the (cheap from the £1 shop) groundsheet just outside.

Hi
Some very good informative post. on here, As I have never cooked in a tent with gas that had a sown in ground sheet.
If the pipe or cooker should spring a leak the gass will run to the lowest part of the tent and build up. Waiting to
ignite, another little tip. That once caught me out Never fry on a cooker while you have the grill turned on, fat can splash down through the centre and cath fire.
Best regards
Rex

To be fair the instructions do say don’t use the burners and grill at the same time, but your explanation makes it clear why not.

I hadn’t thought of that.

Likewise they tell you not to use a pan on a ‘suitcase’ stove that overlaps the gas, and not to put two next to each other. But they don’t explain why. All the suitcase fires I know of were down to this.

Anyway I don’t cook with a flame inside the tent. It is no hardship to be outside, under a tarp if necessary.
