Hi all,

These poles came extra, or so they seem to be, with our Dutch pyramid tent. Does anyone have any ideas what they could be for?

I'd be most grateful for any ideas.

Thanks Lorna

Sean, I did wonder about that but couldn't work out how to use them. Do you have any idea how I could use them? The length is adjustable. The eyelet end I guess could connect to the pin ends of poles near the tent door structure but how do I use the hook end?

Thank you.

The hooked end seems to be colour coded. Is there any clue there? Any poles with red tape that have a hole in for the hook? Trailer tents often have poles like this that hook into a hole in the top of the trailer poles to form the awning roof but I've not seen them on a tent.

I have something very similar but the same both ends (no hooks). They go from the front top corner of the tent to the back top corner, inside the tent, one either side of the roof. The shaped ends fit into little pockets in the top corners of the tent and they basically keep the roof taut between the poles and add rigidity. You expand them as tight as you can then screw in the screws to hold them expanded. I don't know your tent so don't know if you have something similar.

Not sure if I have explained that very well

Bob, I understand, we also have poles like that. It is possible that these could be for inside the tent but haven't had any problems not using them?? So far!

Ronni, yes the red colour code could be useful but so far the poles are colour coded to their use but with no direction to what use. Most poles have made sense but these seem to be a bit of a mystery. They've been coded by the previous owner whom is long removed, so I can't ask. But your mention of awning roof may be useful to explore, thanks.

Puzzled.

They might not have anything to do with the tent. They look like the hooks you use at the funfair to hook out little yellow ducks and win a goldfish

They look like caravan awning poles. Some use them as tent ridge poles for tarps.

They look like something to support an awning. is there a transverse pole at the top front of the tent?

Do the hooks go over this and then get tensioned along top sides of the awning. There would then be two uprights to go through holes of the poles at the front and guyed out.

I've had a frame tent with something similar

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. Good food for thought.

Bob, thanks for the smile. I'm sure I will think of this when I bring them out next.

Doortje, the tent is an old style Baco, Dutch canvas pyramid tent. they often have extra options regarding porches and similar.

Ewan, I'd love to be able to use these with a tarp. I have a tarp and I would like to use it around the entrance of the tent.

And Sue.too your description will help me work out how I could use these. Though I don't have the upright poles and I'll need to check if the hooks go over the transverse pole at tent opening.

I'll have a look at awnings and see if I can source more info.

Thank you all a lot. I've had these lying around with very little idea of what use they would be.

Lorna
