I'm taking my partner and my kids for their 1st ever camping trip on the 1st May Bank. I'm planing of having ehu and a heater. Fingers crossed were be warm enough.
We always go away at the May Bank holiday and don't take a heater but we do use our winter sleeping bags. Some May bank holidays have been positively balmy.

I am sure you will be fine, people on here who camp in the winter, will give you plenty of tips.
The kids will love it, as soon as you get home they will be pestering you to go again.
My advice is take a heater anyway if they are new to this you need to make sure they are comfy and have nothing to moan about, if they are happy they will have a good time and so will you, and they will want to go again if they are not happy they wont want to go anymore

Sure, if you have EHU, you might as well use it. We always get EHU and only use it for charging stuff. You might as well get the heater on. We do use one in colder months. Hopefully May day will be as good as this weekend has been weather wise.

Hot water bottle in kids beds an hour before they get in. Take a woolly hat to wear in bed if cold, makes massive difference. If air beds insulate underneath with blanket and/or foam play mats. Into pjs earlier even if clothes go back on top. Idea is not to get into bed cold.
Same applies to you. When kids go to bed hot water bottle goes in yours.
We went last few days April last year into first few of may without ehu. Days were lovely but thick frost every morn. We were super toastie in bed tho. Worst bit was after mischief was in bed before we went to bed. Cup of hot choc helps at that point.
We also found tops of duvets wet in morn from all our condensed breathing. Thin fleece blanket over the top of the duvet fixed that and dried much quicker.
