Up until 14 months ago we were regular campers. Have since had a break while i had my baby and now we're getting itchy feet to start again. Except i'm now terrified! Thing is she is a bit of a terror ( in a good way most of the time) and so just after tips of how others manage.
My main issues are-
1)She's very loud. Screams and tantrums when she doesn't get her way.
2)Is a very confident walker and WILL try to run away every 5 seconds and if you stop her you're back at point 1.
3)Is hard to get to sleep, albeit once down sleeps 13 hours straight, but as she doesn't want to go to sleep you again end up at point 1.
So i guess her VOLUME is my main conncern as i don't like to disturb others.Any tips? And also what other equipment do people take on top of normal stuff?
We started camping with Boy Wonder when he was just over a year old. He wasn't especially noisy as far as I remember but we did try to go to sites which we already knew would be quiet and have plenty of room between tents/pitches. We took a normal folding travel cot for him and he slept in one of these or something similar at that point anyway.
Don't think we took anything else special.
Here he is having a go with a Trangia 16 years ago.
I'm taking my 8 month old this week, it will be his first trip. I don't think the other boys were as young as this.
Noise carries far on a campsite especially at night/late evening, if we weren't confident that we could keep him quiet we wouldn't go.
Maybe our confidence is misplaced!
We camped with our girls age 2 and other was 3 months..big site so lots of space for 2 year old. Air bed for her and small pram cot for baby. All went fine. I kept some surprise toys hidden to distract with, a cartoon on kindle at night and all went well.
Currently camping in Aviemore with my 3 aged 7,6,3 - raining outside but all having fun.
