So we now have just bought our tent to start over (ex wolf lake 7 owner) now, I don't have any beds, I have an outwell double sleeping bag that we are happy with, so here is our plan:
Get a double folding bed & put a 5cm sim on top then use the sleeping bag on that, is this the way now?
We used to buy air beds but I don't want one as they hurt my back & we seem to break them too much.
My bed is very, very important to me. We carry our "bed" rolled up next to the roof box on top of our car. This is how it is made. We have 2 large quechua air mattresses strapped together. On top of this goes a 2 inch memory foam mattress, on top of this is another 2 inch (breathable) mattress topper, sheet and either top sheet with various blankets or duvet (depending where we are). It makes a large queen size bed and is about the same comfort as my bed at home. I am 59 years old, a midwife with a back problem who likes to camp (in comfort). If I knew how to post pictures I would post some of the mattress rolled on top of the car and how the bed looks once made up. But I cant. It's a small palaver rolling it back up etc. Thank goodness for bungy ropes, those strong clear "suck the air out bags" and loads of duct tape and a husband who is happy to indulge me (he finds it comfortable also!).
We use a double airbed pumped up to 40cmH2O via a redundant cpap device. So comfy with a quilt under us and a duvet on top. We always get a good nights sleep.
Simples and all camping gear stows inside the Octavia hatchback (with back seats removed)
