Just to clarify, and possibly avoid the disappointment of tent campers turning up at a "no tents" site, the Camping and Caravanning Club usually refer to their "5-van" sites as Certificated Sites (the Caravan And Motorhome Club - and a few "Exempted Organisations" - call theirs Certificated Locations).
Have to agree with your "They are usually very quiet sites with only a couple more people camping so plenty of space around your camp so and disruptions are minimal ." - on one CS on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, between the time we arrived and the time we left the following day (we had, very unusually, phoned in advance about availability) we saw nobody at all (pushed site fee through letterbox) except one of their neighbours who was passing and suggested the owners were probably at the Eye Show. Having noticed posters for that event taking place in a local town, I managed to resist commenting "I bet that's spectacular!"

I will be looking at not renewing our Camping and Caravan Club membership next time. Over the years their prices have increased, especially if you need a larger pitch. Most family tents these days are of the same size - we have a family size tent for the two of us (plus two small dogs) as we like a bit of space around us. However I do enjoy reading the monthly magazine - I can't say that justifies the yearly fee though!
