hiya ,
after our sucessful trip earlier in the year its 3 weeks until we go again .   im just wondering what other people use for a cooking area ? last time we had amazing weather so just cooked outside in the fresh air. ths time being september im wondering if we may need a different solution .
we have a big enough pitch to have the extension on our anteus.... is it safe/ a good idea to cook in there ?
flooring wise i was just going to take a big tarp and peg down for that .
i have a couple of cooking units now for food and storage , a table and double cooker .

any ideas greatfully received

many thanks

We cook in the porch area of our tent with the door rolled up in good weather or half rolled up in windy conditions, never had a problem. My only concern is fat from the frying pan splattering the side of the tent but touch wood never had a problem so far. As far as flooring goes I prefer to set up on grass so if any liquids are spilt it soaks into the ground, we have purchased some 600x600mm interlocking foam tiles from Aldi for the main walkway in case it gets too muddy and they work a treat.

We use a Cabanon PN20 Utility Tent, and a butyle 1mm thick rubber pond liner works as the ground sheet.

Brunner Gusto 200 kitchen tent. £190 at Amazon. Just fantastic. I'd never cook in part of the main tent for safety reasons. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brunner-Kitchen-tent-Gusto-200x150/dp/B004NDRMTM

If you want a separate tent for cooking in, you should consider the Quechua Base Seconds pop-up. Spacious, good headroom, lots of ventilation, and takes only a couple of minutes to pitch and guy out.

The tent is very durable; tmt friend's Base Seconds is five years old and has seen a lot of all-year-round use.

I used to cook in a utility tent before we got the trailer tent. Just make sure you get one with a domed roof, ours just slopes to the back of the tent, the amount of nights I got up when it was pouring with rain to push the roof up and get rid of the ouddled water off the top.
