Was up in Glencoe around the 4th of Jan, actually did a wild camp in Glen Orchy, on the way up, that camp was bivvie and tarp. My main camp was tent. This was without electrics.
The right time depends on what you want to do. What do want to get out of camping. It's not an endurance test at the end of the day. Any where in the country it will be cold in March, expect it to be cold and prepare for it. Also it can snow at this time of year. At least you will avoid the midgie season, I've had midges in May camping around Snowdonia.
I would suggest that the kit you take, will keep you warm. Both equipment and clothes. No idea if you will be With or without EHU. Tent, insulation very important, decent sleeping bag and system, depends on whether you sleep warm or cold, clothing, nothing worse not wearing the right clothes. Lot to think about
