We are thinking of selling our tent and moving to a trailer tent.
Its a 2017 vango illusion 800XL which is brand new and never been taken out of the bag. We had a 2016 model which blew a beam ripping the material around it. Contacted the supplier(DW camping) and they exchanged it straight away. Hats off to them!!
So we ended up with the updated 2017 version. As expected it comes with the footprint and carpet but also 5 extra beams which retail at £35 each and also have the skyliner which has been used once and that retails at £70.
I know we wont get near retail but how much would you guys say was a good price?
I reckon that if you throw in the beams and skyliner etc you might get 60% of the retail price of the tent. If you're really lucky.
You can post a For Sale ad on here for free and see if you get any interest. Otherwise list it on e-bay and see what happens?
No idea what it is worth, but is there a local Facebook group for buying and selling things for your area? I have had quite a bit of success selling stuff through the "Orkney Merkit Place" public group, for example.
It is a good time of year to be selling. I would suggest somewhere like Gumtree where there are local buyers who can see the items before parting with their money.
With Gumtree you can advertise it at a maximum price to test the waters and then reduce the price gradually if it doesn't get any interest.
You could advertise it here and sell it, but not every camper or potential camper is a member of UKCS and most members probably already have most of their gear so you will have a wider audience elsewhere....try both.
Generally when people buy second hand tents they would be looking at least half price or less. With an unused tent they may go higher but if you get too close to the new price they would rather buy new and get a guarantee should anything go wrong.
