Which tent are you considering?

I am think of a Chinese cheapie like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultralight-Waterproof-Silicone-Backpacking-Andake/dp/B07BRDKW34

I will be using a mix of camping and hostels where they exist. And if I do get really horrid weather I am prepared to come off the trail and get a b and b.

The Andake seems to have good reviews and seems pretty waterproof and midge proof. It's cheap and light. If I get 4 nights in it it will have earned it's price pack, and I hope for substantially more. If I were planning a more remote trail I think I might look at something posher, but as it is I think I will carry a mini towel for consensation and cope with this.

I will obviously do a couple of practise runs on shorter hikes first. Snowdonia probably.

Wow; yes I too thought of a pup as a nominal 1-2 man tent, ridge style.

As a relative newbie, I am amazed/horrified by the cost of some sites.
Recently, my partner and I pitched up at a very pretty, but fairly basic (good thing) campsite by canoe. No electric (also good!) but was charged more than I would pay to put a 30foot sailing yacht in a marina with all bells and whistles!! Another site on the river with only a tap and compost loo was even more expensive

So, if I'm on my own, if possible, I'll wildcamp....
