To compliment the 6 person tent I’ve bought for only two people... I’m looking for a king/queen size (150cm wide) camp bed that’s high off the ground say 40/50cm. I’ve seen quite a few large inflatable beds from the likes of intex that are mains powered but can still be pumped normally, however mixed reviews.
The other option I was thinking was to buy two of the single aluminium folding beds and get a shallower king size inflatable mattress and put it on top. Any thoughts or experiences?
Thanks in advance :)

I have 5 of the Intex beds (1 Queen size and 4 singles) and just cannot fault them at all.

If you treat them properly they should last for years.

The only thing to bear in mind with the larger ones is that they really are large and often wont fit in a bedroom pod if the rear rake of the tent is steep. Many tent manufacturers are very sparing with the truth in regards size. My Sunncamp Invadair 600Dlx for example it only the size claimed at floor level. Even a few centimetres off the floor and it is much smaller. By the time you get to the 48cm of the queen (UK King) size bed it is only around 190cm from the claimed 210cm. this means the airbed pushes the rear of the tent out quit considerably - in fact so much we have to either move the bed to push the front of the bedroom pod out of shape or turn it around. To show how much of a stretch their measurements are - turning it sideways on so that it is only 150cm front to back and it still touches the rear of the tent.

In comparison the Single (still 99cm wide) is also a little shorter and does just fit in, though it still pushes the rear out a little

Some people like campbeds but I've never had a decent night's sleep on one yet. I've tried sleeping bags on them, SIMs, airbeds - none of them make them comfy for me - but many other people prefer that. It's very much personal choice

The bedroom in my Holkham (allegedly) measures 190x215 but it is a good point.

Which intex have you got? I was looking at the supreme air flow as it looks the comfiest but I’ve read so many and reviews saying it leaks and forms bulges on the top that I’m pretty put off now

None of them should leak or bulge to be honest.

I have the mid range ones - not the cheapest but not the most expensive. I think the singles were £30something and the Queen was around £50 with the postage.

The fibre-tech and durabeam system means there are lots of air tubes inside which act a little like pocket springs on beds. Because of this they dont bulge and if one of the beams ruptures the bed doesnt fail because the others keep their air.

They can only leak if there is a hole or a faulty valve - that's the nature of anything inflatable. Treat it right, use it right and it should be fine.

My Queen is 4 years old now, 1 of the singles is about 6 years old with the others bought sometime since. At £50, if it lasts 5 years then that is a very low cost of ownership. In comparison a good quality double airbed plus good quality thick SIM would cost 2-3 times that amount, so you'd have to keep them 15 years to get the same cost of ownership

I bought a Coleman (can't remember the model name) which would suit your needs. Best airbed I've had to date.
